Logo I designed

So I originally did some artwork for a podcast called Christian Gamers 2.0. The guys behind CG2.0 have since changed their cast altogether and decided to do a World of Warcraft podcast. So they asked me to do another logo for them and of course I was more than happy to oblige. Check out the final logo I designed for them and if you are a WoW player you should definitely check out their new podcast. Heck, even if you are just interested in MMO’s you’ll enjoy the cast. I don’t even play WoW anymore but I still listen to WoW podcasts.

I need a DS

Wow this is looking and sounding really phenomenal! I had no idea Joe Hisaishi was working on the music for this project! From what I can tell the animation is on par with a full scale Ghibli production and this might be what pushes me to get a DS.

Studio Ghibli game in the works

This is really exciting news! Level 5 and Studio Ghibli are working together on a video game called Ni no Kuni. Which means The Other World in english. Ni no Kuni is a DS exclusive title that will probably be shown at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show (TGS). For more photos click here.

I guess this means I need to start saving up for a DS.

Xbox 360 Takes Console Throne in Japan

Wii pushed into second.

The console race took an unexpected twist in Japan this past week as the Xbox 360 emerged on top of a slowing Wii.

Famitsu.com, citing data from parent company Enterbrain, reported today that the 360 sold 28,681 units over the week spanning September 8 to September 14. This was well above the PS3's 8,050 units and even above the Wii's 27,057 units.

The 360's sudden success -- the previous week saw sales of just 843 units -- can be attributed to the convergence of a price drop, a new 60 gigabyte model, fresh hardware shipments following weeks of shortages, and the release of Infinite Undiscovery........read the whole article here.

Wrath of the Lich King Cinematic

The Blizzard team never ceases to awe me with their incredible movie quality cinematics. I truly believe that they should make a full length film, especially after watching their latest creation. Check it out here in it's HD glory!

Force Unleashed Demo is out!

Wow, this game has really blown me away. I was really looking forward to it but I didn't expect it to be quite this good. The demo includes one of the first levels and it's not super long but this game has a high replay value. In fact I've already played through it three times. The new tech running in this game is phenomenal and is really going to change the way that games are played. If you own an Xbox 360 or a PS3 go download the demo now!

Star Trek Online

Could this be Sci-Fi's answer to World Of Warcraft? Well they certainly have a good universe to pull from but I wonder how it will all work out? My brief encounter with Star Wars: Galaxies left a bitter taste in my mouth when it comes to Sci-Fi MMO's. I do know one thing for sure, if I wanted to even try this out I'd probably need a new PC. Check out the debut trailer below.

GOW2 Violence and Language Filter

I really wish more developers would catch on and do this too. I personally know a lot of people who are more willing to buy games if some of the mature content is optional. Of course this is really nothing new to Epic, they've been doing this in the Unreal franchise for a while and the original Gears Of War had some watered down filters. Hit the jump for more info.
Read IGN's article.

Call of Duty 5 Co-op

When I first heard they were going back to WWII after creating such a fantastic modern day shooter I thought that the CoD franchise was taking a turn for the worse. But if this new video is any indication of what we can expect from the final product then I don't think we have to worry. Not to mention Jack Bauer is in it. (Warning there is some strong language).

Geometry Wars 2 Review

The gameplay formula for geometry wars is simple, throw a ton of colorful little shapes at you and see how long you can survive. Geometry Wars 2 takes that idea and expands upon it by giving you more game modes and better colorful shapes to shoot at. The new game modes really breathe new life into the game making it a true sequel and not just Geometry wars 1.5.

I really like all of the new game modes but my favorite besides the original Evolved is the new Pacifist mode. Pacifist is a mode that leaves you without the use of your guns and requires you to fly through little gates to destroy the enemy.

Another great little feature is the use of your Xbox Live friend’s list in-game. While playing a certain mode your friend’s name will pop up in the top right corner of the screen displaying his or her score on that particular game mode. Once you beat that person’s score then the next highest friend will pop up. It makes the game really fun and competitive and I spent a lot of time trying to get the best score out of everybody on my friends list.

My only real complaint with the game is the lack of online multiplayer. In this day and age it just doesn’t make any sense. It’s great that you can do it locally, but if they had the time to add it locally they should have spent a little extra time and make it work over Live.
Other than that little qualm I think that if you enjoyed the first game or you like old school arcade games in the same vein as asteroids, then you should pick this game up. It’s a little pricey at 800 MS points ($10) but it is well worth the money spent.

Jump!

I put this together a while ago but thought I'd upload it on this new site I just discovered. Gamevee.com allows you to upload fairly high-res videos and there is also some very cool technology that allows you to upload saved Halo 3 films from Bungie's servers. Check it out!

Geometry Wars 2

The first Geometry Wars was really the first game that I spent a lot of time with after I purchased my Xbox 360, and it wasn't because there weren't any other games to play. It was because of it's addicting pick up and play game play mechanics. I really hope the sequel is just as good.

Sony Press Conference

Sony just wrapped up their press conference for today and I have to admit that theirs was definitely the weakest of the trio. They spent most of their time talking about previous announcements in more depth. I will give kudos to them however for their clever graph presentation via the use of Little Big Planet. Other than that Sony really didn’t have much going for them this year. There were no big Home announcements and no megatons or bombshells to be seen. They did show a pre-rendered cinematic for God Of War 3 and a cinematic for an MMO shooter called MAG (Massive Action Game). The concept for MAG is interesting but they’re probably really far from being able to show off anything. They are just so far behind Microsoft when it comes to their network, a point that was made dreadfully apparent when they spent 15 minutes demoing their new video store.

Nintendo Press Conference

I'm a little disappointed with Nintendo's keynote this year. The announcement of Animal Crossing for the Wii was a welcome one, along with the new Wii motion add-on and Wii Sports: Resort. The sword fighting and precise controls will make it a must buy for any Wii owners. But there weren't any big franchise announcements. I'm not sure about Wii music either, it looks like it could be fun but there are so many music games out on the market today I just wonder if it will be different enough to compete with the competition.
